Lead statuses are the labels your team uses to track where each prospect stands in your sales process. Every time a rep knocks a door, they mark the outcome — Not Home, Interested, Sold, or whatever labels make sense for your workflow. Each status gets its own color, and those colors appear as pin markers on your map, so you can scan an entire territory at a glance and see exactly where the opportunities are. You manage your statuses from Settings → Lead Statuses.
LeadScout includes a set of default statuses to get you started. You can edit these to match your terminology or add new ones alongside them.

Create a lead status

Only admins and owners can create, edit, and delete lead statuses.
1

Open Lead Statuses settings

Go to Settings → Lead Statuses.
2

Click Add status

Click Add status.
3

Enter a name

Type a label for the status. Keep it short — your reps will see it in a dropdown on the prospect screen. Examples: Not Home, Callback, Not Interested, Sold.
4

Choose a color

Pick a color for this status. The color you choose becomes the pin color on the map for any prospect marked with this status. Using distinct colors for your key outcomes (like green for Sold, red for Not Interested) makes filtering your map much faster.
5

Save

Click Save. The new status appears immediately in the list and becomes available to reps in the app.

Edit a status

1

Find the status

Go to Settings → Lead Statuses and locate the status you want to update.
2

Open it

Click the edit icon next to the status name.
3

Update the name or color

Change the label, the color, or both. Existing prospects that already use this status will automatically reflect the updated label and color.
4

Save

Click Save to apply the changes.

Delete a status

1

Find the status

Go to Settings → Lead Statuses and locate the status you want to remove.
2

Delete it

Click the edit icon, then select Delete. Confirm when prompted.
Deleting a status removes it from the dropdown your reps see. Prospects that were already assigned that status will retain their existing status label until you manually update them.

How statuses appear on the map

Each lead status has a color that appears as the pin color for any prospect carrying that status. When you open the map, you can filter by status to show only the pins that match — useful for focusing a route on callbacks, or reviewing where your closes are clustering in a territory.
Plan your color choices before you start canvassing a territory. A consistent color scheme across your team (for example, always using green for Sold and yellow for Callback) makes your map much easier to read at a glance.
